Cinnamon Puffs

I've had a problem as of late. Every time I go to the library I have to look at cookbooks. And every time I come home with huge stack of them. The more baking, the better. But that's not really the problem, the problem is I've been so busy that I haven't had much time to make any of the recipes from these books. But a couple of weekends ago I changed that after a marathon baking episode on a Sunday afternoon.

It all started out innocently enough. I was going to make a loaf of white bread (post to come). Then I realized that while the loaf was rising, I had time to make something else. Actually two somethings, but again that's another post.

I decided to make Cinnamon Puffs from the King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion Cookbook. (BTW, my birthday is in July if anyone wants to buy me this cookbook. I'm in love with it! ;) ) The thing about these muffins that made them great is that once cooled enough to pick up, you dunk the muffin top in melted butter and then into cinnamon sugar.

The finished product reminded me very much of a cinnamon-sugar donut. No wonder when I went looking for the recipe on the King Arthur Flour Web site, I found the same recipe under the name Doughnut Muffins. Yum!

Mmm. Donut muffins. Then again, how can anything dipped into butter and sugar be bad?

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get your cookbook for your birthday. In the meantime, check out www.abebooks.com for really great prices on new and used cookbooks. I add to my collection very inexpensively all the time.

The Doughnut Muffins are a big favorite at our house too.

Oh my - how did I miss this post when it first went up? Those look both sinful and heavenly.
