Our First Garden, Update 5

It's been quite a while since we mentioned our garden. And it's been going well. We still have our pepper and tomato seedlings fighting it out inside. We'll be planting those soon in the next couple of weeks.

However, we have had our lettuce seedlings planted out in the garden, and those are starting to show some obvious signs of life as they near their time for picking, which is still about 6 weeks away. The picture above shows only a part of our garden (there's another chuck to the right of the biggest line of lettuce), and you can see that the lettuces have varying degrees of fruition, although they were planted at the same time.

Yep, we'll be eating a lot of mesclun salads, it looks like.

I haven't planted anything outside yet... but will buy seedlings (for non-salad, herb plants that are direct sow) this year. I'm hoping to do my own seedlings next year! Keep up the good work!

I love it when spring has sprung and the garden starts growing!! What kinds of lettuce did you plant?

Lo, we have a few kinds. Mesclun for sure. I don't recall offhand the other ones.
