Spicy Sausage and Penne

What can I say? I'm a sucker for creaminess in a dish. And that was apparent when we tried out Healthy Cooking's Spicy Sausage and Penne recipe.

Cut the sausage, preferably on a bias, while the pasta is cooking. Brown the sausage in a nonstick skilled and remove when done.

Then combine flour, garlic powder, mustard and pepper flakes and whisk in milk until smooth. Add milk mixture to skillet and loosen brown bits from pan. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until thickened.

Then add the pasta and vegetables (we went with peas, corn and green beans). Then add the cheese and sausage.

The dish was pretty good on the first night, except we thought we could have gone with Parmesan instead of mozzarella. I found that the dish was much creamier on subsequent reheating for lunch the next couple of days. It's a good and easy casserole dish that could find some improvements.
