Our First Garden, Update 8 (First Harvest Edition)
Last Friday was time. Time to harvest, that is. And even though the only food ready to be harvested was our lettuces, it was still a grand time. Our first successful food-growing process that we started from seeds. We took a reusable bag out to our garden and filled it nearly half full with lettuce (enough to fill 4 gallon-sized zip-top bags).
And that was just a little bit more than 1/3 of the lettuce we planted. We'll be harvesting the remainder of the second row today and the third row should be finished in the next week, too.
We -- and families and friends -- have been eating the lettuce as we've had company at our house almost every night since then. This, this is a feeling a couple could get used to.

Nothing like the flavor of garden fresh lettuce in the spring-time. How nice of you to share it with all of your guests!
I'm jealous! This year we got ambitious and built a raised bed, but didn't finish in time to plant lettuce and spinach - my favorite homegrown treats!
