Simple Ham and Cheese Quiche

Custard? Why, yes, I love custard. (This is Wisconsin, after all.)

But a custard egg dish? Never tried it. So, for a challenge, a Ham and Cheese Quiche it is.

For guidance, we turned to "The America's Test Kitchen Family Baking Book." We used the Simple Cheese Quiche recipe from ATK, but added some frozen Christmas ham that we had just hogging up some freezer space.

It was a new culinary experience for me. The texture was soft and a little bit runny, but enjoyable. The flavors were classic and simple: Small chunks of meaty ham, flaky crust and fragrant herbs. Savory custard? Yeah, I can get behind that.
