Our Favorites from 2010

Last year was a good year for us for many reasons, and among them is that we got more creative in the kitchen.

Here's our 11 favorite recipes from this past year. (Yes, we couldn't get to 10. We got stuck on 11, so we went there.)

Honeycrisp Apple, Caramelized Onion and Blueberry Cheddar Pizza

This concoction turned out to be a real winner. It's a savory pizza with some sweetness, and it's one we've made a few times now.

Black Bean and Mango Nachos with Lime Vinaigrette

On a whim, we made these, combining a bunch of ingredients, yet coming out with a balanced nacho. They turned out well, and it was good to get balanced bites.

Remade Greek Salad

Hummus. We're fans, obviously. And this salad uses it as a base, making this a creamy salad, but also one that is very satisfying.

Mint Mojito Sugar Cookies

These cookies turned out well, and with some mojito flavor, they're sure to make you grab for more than one.

Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Raspberry Coulis

This dessert was creamy, and the sauce was tart, and the two added up to one fine dish.

Simple JenEhr Smashed Potatoes

Yeah, we know. This wasn't a fancy recipe, nor was it too original (I'm sure it's been done before). But this made our top recipes list because of the potatoes, which hail from JenEhr near Madison. Simply put, these were the best potatoes we have eaten in our entire lives.

Pinto Bean and Queso Fresco Tamales

I used a tasty, if not unimaginative, filling for the first time I made tamales. We'll have to make more soon, and this time come up with some fun and interesting fillings.

Raspberry Chiffon Pie

My favorite dessert that Melissa has ever made. It's three layers of awesomeness. We like it so much it's our Facebook page image. Yeah, we're obsessed.

Frittata with Smoked Cheese and Canadian Bacon

A great go-to frittata. It's got a rich cheese and the bacon provides a great savory bite. Fun, filling and easy, so where can you go wrong?

Creamy Baked Potato Soup

Our favorite soup. We love the heartiness of the potatoes and the rich and creamy broth provide a contrast that is enticing and lovely.

Orange Marmalade and Nueske's Bacon Burgers

This burger was made upon a suggestion, and we're glad we took up the challenge. It was delicious.
